MEET THE STYLISTS

COSMETOLOGIST + BRAIDER

Our lead stylist, Rika is from Oakland, CA. She picked up braiding at a very early age, receiving her first training from her mother, Karen Fox, who was a braider and a hair model for The Braider's Bible by Cassandra Rachel. At 14, she began working in a braiding salon, assisting Chantel Dudue, former owner of Labelle African Braids. Coincidently, this  same salon ended up being the very first location of The Braid Bar. This is where she perfected her craft and began learning various hair care and braiding techniques from African countries like the Congo, Togo, Senegal, and the Ivory Coast. She took this knowledge and started renting a booth at 16 years old at Beauty Town, formerly located Downtown Oakland. Here at BBB Rika is our lead stylist and she specalizes in braiding and extentions. She also does crochet, loc maintenance, and feed in style

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Kahara Morris is the proud co-owner and salon manager of The Braid Bar. With a lifelong passion for beauty and empowering women, she is dedicated to creating a welcoming, safe space where women and young girls, especially those from inner-city communities like the one she grew up in, can feel confident, beautiful, and valued.

Having studied Business and Marketing at UC Berkeley while working as a freelance hairstylist and makeup artist, Kahara combines her creative background with her business knowledge to continuously grow and elevate The Braid Bar. Her mission extends beyond beauty—it's about building community, inspiring confidence, and creating opportunities for the next generation.
